Welcome to my newsletter. I’m so glad you’re here.

Think of this newsletter as an archive of letters that I’m leaving you with. A chest full of letters that I’ll never send (or may send ) to you, to the world, to birds, to friends, to strangers, to everyone near and far, to the person perpetually staring out of their classroom window. I write this for you. All of you. Read more about the origin story for this newsletter here.

I’m Trivarna Hariharan

A poet who believes in words as forms of prayers. Virginia Woolf once described the epiphanies of life as “matches struck in the dark.” I think that is an accurate way of understanding poems as well. They are small, unexpected flames of light— hymns sung in the midnight.

I am a poet, pianist, and educator who runs the online creative community: Wildflowers are Prayers. I have studied English Literature at Delhi University, and the University of Cambridge (ICE). A Pushcart prize and Orison Anthology nominee – my poems have been published or forthcoming in Duende, Entropy, Stirring, Times of India, Deccan Chronicle, COUNTERCLOCK, Atticus Review, JMWW, The Hunger, Whale Road Review, The Shore, Chiron Review, and others. I have authored two collections of poetry – Letters Never Sent(Writers Workshop Kolkata), and There Was Once A River Here (Les Editions du Zaporogue, France).

Wildflowers are Prayers

I’m the founder of Wildflowers are Prayers. We are a creative writing community that thinks about writing as a form of self-care. We are especially focused on poetry and memoir writing.

Imagination is not just an expanse of desire— it’s also the possibility of a life (or the lives) that we can create for ourselves. Wildflowers has been designed to give wings to your imagination: and be a safe space for your child-spirited experimentation with words. It’ll also help you bridge the gap between where you imagine your writing to be—and how it actually unfolds in your lives.

Wildflowers is also here to help you figure out how your writing practice intersects with the other interests and passions of your lives. To make the most of the writing time that you have on a given day: brief or long as it may be.

We are open to everyone from across all walks, ages and stages of life: from all over the globe. Whether you’re beginning to write your first poems/stories/essays - or are a mid-career writer with many publications to your credit: we will be thrilled to have you in our community!
